A steppe grassland xeric to mesoxeric species which sometimes
grows on limestones in the lower nemoral belt. In Transylvania it is
actually encountered only in the north-eastern periphery of the
Trascau Mountains (Cheile Turzii, Cheile Borzesti areas) where the
steppe xeric grasslands get in touch with the low altitude
calcareous massifs.
